Dear Carter,
You are 16 months old now, and I think this is my favorite time with you so far. You have always been a sweet little boy, but now your personality is really showing through. It seems as if you’re doing or saying something new almost everyday, which makes spending time with you just plain fun. I decided to make this list of things you do and say so that we can remember this time with you many years from now. You love to dance (you call it "deets") and it’s so amusing to watch you groove in the living room, or while you’re in your carseat. You like to be with mama and daddy in the kitchen, playing with plastic bowls and lids, pots, pans, and spoons. You are drawn to all of the remote controls in the house (television, fan, air conditioner) and you like to flip the light switches up and down, saying "off" and "on". By far, your favorite activity is reading, and you especially love the books "My Friends", "Spot" and "Moo Ba La La La". You are talking quite a lot, naming (or trying to name) everything you see. You have over 80 words in your vocabulary now, and you have started putting two words together ("read it", "mama’s shoes", and "nice doggy"). You giggle every time you see our 14 year-old dog, Brindle ("Brin-doh") and you love feeding him treats ("teets"). You can point to your ears, eyes, mouth, belly button ("bopst"), knees and toes. You are a good eater, and your favorite foods are "nack-nack-nee" (macaroni), "nicken" (chicken), and "oo-oo-ee" (yogurt). You’re learning to brush your teeth and take off your clothes all by yourself. You love bath time, playing with your toys, signing and splashing in the water. You take two naps a day (about 60-90 minutes each) and you sleep from about 7:00pm to 7:00 am. You call your pacifier "night-night" and you snuggle with your blanket all night long. You are such a happy boy and your laugh is so sweet and contagious. Your daddy and I love spending as much time with you as we can. We feel so blessed to be your parents. We love you!
